The Mohkinstsis (MOH-kin-stiss) Tour is an authentic Indigenous walking tour of St. Patrick’s Island that provides guests with the opportunity to learn about local Indigenous history through cultural sharing with a local Indigenous guide. During the tour we provide an introduction to Indigenous people in Canada, followed by an exploration into the lives of the Blackfoot people both before and after contact. Through this experience we hope to share with our guests the story of how the Blackfoot people are a resilient people that have overcome many barriers to once again thrive in their traditional territory. The tour provides guests with the opportunity to learn and connect with local Indigenous people in an outdoor nature setting that fosters learning and open dialogue. The tour is approximately 90 mins to 120 mins depending on the speed of the group. The trail is 2.2 kms and is a combination of paved trail and gravel. We suggest warm clothes and comfortable footwear. During the tours we ask guest to hear face masks and maintain physically distancing of 2 meters or more, and are in compliance with all COVID-19 guidelines as outlined by Alberta Health Services, Alberta Government and City of Calgary.
